Day 1 - Macao

26 November 2008 (Wednesday)

We woke up early that day to catch 630am flight to Macao. Tired and sleepy. I couldn't sleep well in the plane due to the uncomfortable flight seat. I should not complain so much since this is budget airline with the budget air fares. =P

WCC's first time photo shooting in the plane. Are you sure? -"- I have taken my first photo in the MAS during the trip to Japan. Second time is in the China Airlines that on the way to Taiwan. Now we are taking photo in the Air Asia!!!

We reached Macao International Airport at 1015am. It was cold. I think less than 20 degree celsius only. I never have any trip during Autumn/Winter period. This definitely my first experience. That's why I only bring jacket which cannot give warm when the weather drops to 7 - 10 degree celsius. -"- However I still feel excited. ;)

We first changed our money to small notes in airport, and then we took a van to our accommodation - Augusters lodge. We paid HK$ 100 for the transport to hostel. It costs us HK$ 12.50 each person since we have 8 person. After discussion, we decided to take this van again to tour around Macao and we have to pay another HK$ 100 each person for the trip.

Old building near to Augusters Lodge:

After checked in, driver brought us to eat famous portuguese egg tart - 玛嘉烈蛋挞. Unfortunately it closes every Wednesday. Therefore we headed to Senado Square. We found another famous dessert in restaurant 义顺- 双皮奶. 4 of us share the dessert together and we ordered original 双皮奶 (cold and hot respectively), 姜汁撞奶 (hot), red bean 双皮奶 + 1 波萝包.

Senado Square is the venue to the most of the public as well as religious festivals in Macao. More photos in Senado Square:

Holy House of Mercy

Next we visited Ruins of St. Paul's. According to history, a violent typhoon hit Macao in 1835 and the church caught fire for the third time leaving its glory a history. You can get a lot of souvenirs here. I bought few pack of Almond biscuits. =)

The friendship landmark of Chinese and Portuguese

A-Ma Temple. It's the oldest temple in Macao. Each year, on the days of the birthday of Mazu and Chinese New Year, many male and female disciples gather here. They burn lots of incense to pay homage and pray for good fortune.

Macao Tower is one of World Federation of Great Towers and it is the 10th tallest tower in the world. At 233 meters, the Macao Tower provides activities like "skyjump" and Bungee jump.

Statue of Kun Lam. We just passed by, but did not stop for photo shooting because rushing time for famous 猪扒包. According to driver, 猪扒包 selling time is between 3 - 4pm. It only sells 1000 everyday. After 4pm (even before 4pm), you can't even find one from that restaurant.

Famous 猪扒包 at 大利茶餐廳. Not sure where is the lacation, but it really tastes good.

Next Venetian Macao. Simon's parents and brother gambled in casino, and 4 of us + Simon wandered around the hotel. The Venetian Macau is a Renaissance Venice-themed luxury hotel and casino resort owned by the Las Vegas Sands corporation.

Before dinner, we tried curry fish ball at 恒友. Most of them said it's normal, not so special as what they expected. But I like its curry. =P
Dinner at 黄枝記, famous of Wantan Mee and porridge. It is situated at Senado Square. E4, LCC and I share 艇仔粥 and 皮蛋瘦肉粥 together. I prefer 皮蛋瘦肉粥 compared to 艇仔粥.

After dinner, we walked to Casino Lisboa. On our way, we found portuguese pavement with different design on the street.

Casino Lisboa, one of famous casino in Macao. It is owned by Stanley Ho.

He was trying to play on the light that located on the floor. ;)

Weather is getting cold at night. It was windy as well. We went back and rest around 11pm and will continue our journey to Hong Kong on the next day morning.
