Taiwan Day 5 - TaiChung

18 April 2008

Today was windy day in Kaohsiung. Previously Kaohsiung is known as ‘Takao’ (打狗). It is the second largest city in Taiwan and is a major center for manufacturing and transportation.

First stop of the day was Sun Moon Lake (日月潭) which situated in Nantou. Driver stopped the bus and let us has chance to get closer to the lake. Sun Moon Lake is the home for Thao tribe (邵族), one of aboriginal tribes in Taiwan.

We met up a group of people whom were trying to video record their show. I have no idea who are they, but it’s still fun to see how they record their TV show.

Wen-Wu Temple.

I managed to get a Taiwan-island-shaped magnet here. In every country I have explored, normally I will buy magnet printed with the country name as a souvenir for myself and my friends. It’s extremely hard to find a magnet in Taiwan. Luckily today I have found ONE here. ^_^

We had our lunch at Ching Sheng restaurant which can view Sun Moon Lake thoroughly.

After lunch, we headed to 邵族 Cultural village.

We wore their traditional fashion and took a picture. It’s totally FREE of charge. You can simply use your own camera to take the pictures.

Tour proceeded to Peacock Garden. Only male peacock has brightly-colored blue and green feathers and a long tail that can spread out like a fan.

Here we came to Chi Lin Fong Hot Spa. This was my second time enjoying hot spring. Chi Lin Fong Hot Spa has 2 different hot spas, which are outdoor and indoor. It’s MUST to wear swimming costume in outdoor whereas you can naked when in indoor. I have tried the indoor-style when I was in Japan. Therefore this time I experienced outdoor hot spa. Outdoor hot spa is shared by men and women. It is divided into few pools such as 30 Degree Celsius pool, 44 Degree Celsius pool, cold pool, etc… another special place for you to boil your eggs using their hot water. The eggs are really taste delicious. =)

Next, we visited 逢甲夜市. Another night market to spend our money without hesitation.

Tonight we had our lunch at a unique restaurant named 伍角船板. This restaurant is exactly like its name. It looks like a ship.

Wash bowl in toilet

The dishes are delicious and special. Milk Mua Chi is my favorite.

Tonight we will stay at TaiChung Twin Star (双星酒店) Hotel and this is our room.

There is a shopping mall named “TaiChung Central”. Since the night is still young, we walked around 2 minutes to TaiChung Central. Again I bought a T-shirt (made in Taiwan) for Kelvin and some stainless steel boxes for my friends as souvenirs.
